Hi there, I’m Mallika, a Chicago-based writer and editor. My journalism has been featured in CNBC, Bloomberg News, The Wall Street Journal’s Buy Side, Business Insider, Money Magazine and more. My essays can be found in literary magazines like Entropy and Punctuate. I co-write the newsletter Yes, We’re Still Watching all about TV past and present (cue the nostalgia for shows like The O.C. and Gossip Girl, but also deep dives into HBO’s current heavy hitters). Subscribe here.

Until recently I was an editor at Money Magazine where I wrote a weekly newsletter that made investing easy to understand for everyday folks like you and I. In 2023, I turned to freelancing full time. If you need someone with years of experience covering business and personal finance, I’d love to chat!

I attended the Craig Newmark Graduate School of Journalism where I studied business and economics reporting and was a McGraw Scholar, and I received my bachelor’s degree from Kalamazoo College where I studied creative nonfiction.

If I’m not reading or writing, I’m probably at the movie theater, getting lost in a podcast or dissecting the latest celebrity feud. I get outside sometimes, too.
